If you're not a fan of year-round cycling, with winter coming, it's time to give your e-bike a well-deserved rest. If you want to keep your e-bike in perfect condition and ready for the spring season, it's important to give it the right winterization care. Whether you have a mountain, city, cross or full suspension e-bike, the following steps will help you maintain its performance and durability.

It's important to clean your e-bike properly before putting it away for the winter. Remnants of mud, dust and salt can cause corrosion that will damage various parts of the bike. Focus on the frame, fork, chain and other moving parts. To clean, use a bicycle cleaner, a soft brush and a cloth that should be damp, not wet, to prevent water from getting into sensitive areas.

The battery is the heart of your e-bike. We recommend charging the battery even when not in use about once a month and storing it at room temperature (around 16-20 °C) charged to 50-80% of the battery capacity. Ideally, store it in a room where it is above 10 °C. If you store it for a long time, check it regularly and recharge it so that it does not fall into a deep discharge. This will help to extend its life.

It's a good idea to treat your tyres so they last through the winter without damage. If you store your bike on a hard surface, it is advisable to lower the tyre pressure to prevent deformation. This means that instead of the standard tyre pressure (which is usually indicated on the tyre sidewall), you should slightly loosen the valve to bring the pressure down to a lower level. This step will help prevent permanent deformations that can occur when the wheel sits on hard surfaces for long periods of time. Also, make sure the tires have no cracks or visible damage that could affect their performance on your next ride.

Before winterizing, we recommend thoroughly cleaning and lubricating the chain to prevent corrosion and contamination. If the chain and gear system are in good condition, they can serve you well for the rest of the season. Also remember to check the brake pads for wear.

When storing the bike, it is important to place it in a dry and well-ventilated room. The bike should stand on a stand to reduce the pressure on the tyres and prevent them from deforming. If you are unable to store your bike in a dry room, make sure it is protected from moisture and temperature fluctuations.

Before winterizing, be sure to do a general check of the bike. Check all bolts, fastenings and other important parts to make sure they are in good order. If you prepare your bike properly for the winter, you can be sure that it will be ready for immediate use when you ride again in the spring.

Winterizing your e-bike is a simple but important process that will help extend the life of your bike and ensure it's ready for the next adventure in the spring. Look after your battery, chain and tyres and your e-bike will thank you for it and serve you for a long time.

Have a great winter and we can't wait to see you on the road again!
